‘World’s Ugliest Dog’ Picture Contest Offers Prizes & Fun (updated)
Ventura County, California (PRWEB) October 6, 2005
DogExplorer.com is pleased to announce the “World’s Ugliest Dog” Picture Contest, the first in a series of fun and friendly global dog and puppy photo competitions.
While DogExplorer.com knows there are no truly ugly dogs, some have a certain, um, well, kisser, that appeals most to their human mom’s and dad’s. Entering the contest, registering on the site, viewing and voting on the picture entrants are all completely free!
DogExplorer.com and its readers are waiting to see your beloved canine companions, so bring those hairy, bald, smushed, droopy, wet, sloppy, entirely lovable pooch faces our way. The winner, selected by votes entered by registered users on DogExplorer.com, gets a $ 25.00 gift certificate for pet supplies and a “Go Between” collapsible food & water bowl from sponsor Ruff Wear, For Dogs On The Go® ( http://www.ruffwear.com ).
And bragging rights to the title of “parents” of the “World’s Ugliest Dog.” Although they may want to keep that one to themselves. The launch of the website was inspired by a mixed breed dog adopted from a non-profit rescue. He proved to be an outstanding companion and friend. Several of the contestants are also rescues and their owners can attest to the joy they’ve brought into their lives. At a time when 3-4 million of the 6-8 million dogs which enter shelters each year do not come back out alive, the contest, and DogExplorer.com, want to emphasize through a little humor that looks are not everything, and that older, less photogenic dogs, certainly deserve a good home and oftentimes enrich their owner’s lives in ways unimagined.
The contest is open to entrants from all countries and voting runs from October 6, 2005, through November 15, 2005. Complete contest rules are posted on DogExplorer.com ( http://www.DogExplorer.com ).
Hurry and enter the contest, you may even win a little something for the furry person in your life.

About DogExplorer.com:
DogExplorer.com is the newest member of The Aeronautic Company’s family of web properties.
DogExplorer.com was inspired by “Ansel,” a rescue dog who lived with DogExplorer.com’s publisher from the time he was a puppy of eight weeks old until he was euthanized due to tragically failing health on September 16, 2005. He was fifteen. The core values of DogExplorer.com requires the site to do all it can to aid in the placement of dogs in adopted homes. To accomplish this goal, in part, DogExplorer.com donates dog picture gallery albums and discussion board forums to no-kill shelters, rescues, and adoption organizations.
Living and traveling with Ansel was an immensely enriching experience thanks to his intelligence, loyalty, love, devotion and companionship. His picture adorns the site’s logo and there is a short video of him on the site as well.
DogExplorer.com is a fun and family friendly website created to provide resources and information about the care of the elderly dog, dog training, selecting and raising puppies, forums for discussions on every canine subject, our dog picture galleries where users can enter contests or simply view or share their pictures with others, and especially information on how and where to travel with dogs. DogExplorer.com – Exploring the world of dogs and puppies, offers everything but the dog breath!
