Walking Handstand- amazing funny dog training trick
This is a video of Splash’s first lessons at a walking handstand. I was so inspired by Heather and Jesse’s most amazing walking handstand that I thought I would give it a try with Splash. However, no dog can do it cuter than Jesse on JustJesse197 ‘s youtube channel :) Other walking handstand inspirations are Hechiasia Zsianz1 Yolle555 If your dog can do a walking handstand that you clicker trained (not one where they are being punished) please post as a video response. I thought I would show the unfinished results as it it quite fun to see Splash figuring it all out. I have a question that I hope you can help with! I have gotten my dog Abby to the point where she does the handstand unsupported. Unfortunately, she will only do it for about 2 seconds. It is almost more like kicking her legs up then holding the there. How do I get her to hold it for longer? How do I begin transitioning into walking?
Should I forget doing it unsupported for now and go back to using the wall and increasing hold time? What do you think?

after watching Heather and Jesse, i was thinking maybe only small dogs can do walking handstands. now after watching splash, and he has similar body type to my eskimo, I FEEL MY DOG WILL ONE DAY BE ABLE TO DO THIS TOO! :D Thanks for this video!!

Well. I believe it depends on the dog. With a overweight dog or a dog with heath issues I would not do this. But it is the same with humans. You can train your body to do handstands and other tricks, but for some people its not a good idea. Some Dogs actually naturally do handstands to mark, check out the video- Chester, the incredible peeing dog He can do a 1 min handstand! I stopped doing handstands with my chi just because she is fragile, but she will do them if the grass is wet!
He is very smart! How did you get him to walk while doing a handstand?

How do you get the initial behavior if they don’t offer it? Is there a way the lure them at first?
